We consider ourselves to be suitable developers for any website or related
projects.
As detailed below, our involvement and running of the KZN Wildlife website
has added enormous value to this multi-dimensional site.
Comprising 1 500 pages and more than 3 500 images, the KZN Wildlife website
has many unique features that put it ahead of similar sites in the industry.
Within six weeks of launching the site it was securing 10% of the total
accommodation bookings, making it, within a very short time, a self-sustaining
asset for the organisation.
The KZN Wildlife website continues to generate 100 booking enquiries a
day, resulting in an income of R450 000 per month.
In addition, ChakariNet has formed a strong working relationship with
KZN Tourism and over the past year we have been involved in several projects
with them.
One of these has been the development of a webcam facility for the Tembe
Elephant Game Park, bringing viewers around the world daily live images
of Tembe's elephants.
Another has been the running of a series of "Tourism & The Internet" workshops
around the province, bringing about a stronger understanding of how the
internet can be used to draw more tourists to the province through high
quality websites.
The SADC-REEP website (Southern African Developing Countries - Regional Environmental
Education Program), developed by ChakariNet, is a valuable resource that
promotes the networking of staff and learners of the Southern African region.
In a joint project with the Wildlife and Environment Society of Southern
Africa and Rhodes University (Dept Environmental Education), we have developed
an Environmental Education CD that features interactive games for learners.
The CD not only increases their understanding of birds, animals and flora,
but also gives them a better understanding of environmental issues.
This CD has been so successful it has now been incorporated in a UNESCO Multimedia
Professional Development Program, "Teaching and Learning for a Sustainable
Future".
